Coming from a fairly athletic family, it's reasonable to expect that Max will start working out early in his life - but in the first few days? As it turns out, yes! Everyday, typically in the mornings, we lay his blanket out and give him some "tummy time". During these sessions he moves himself around a little bit, sometimes lifting his head up and turning to the other side, sometimes pumping his legs to try to move around, and sometimes (as in this video) he just lays there doing not much of anything! Either way, Ironmax is getting his workout on...

Getting His Sweat On

1st Week
Our first week home with Max has been amazing. He is truly an awesome kid, sleeps and eats like a champ and generally seems to enjoy being around us when he's awake. We've taken lots of walks, been on a few outings, and had lots of visitors coming to see the madman. We've started reading books to him everyday, taking baths together which he doesn't seem to mind at all, and he's sleeping by himself for long stretches in his basket.

Going Home!
After barely 24 hours at the hospital, the Carson Hyatt clan heads for home...
The nurses at the hospital were all great and we had lots of visits from Max's new family. e were able to rest and eat well and learn some tricks on feeding and swaddling from the staff at Providence. We are super excited to be headed home to start our new journey as a family of three!

The Madman has arrived!

Max Carson Hyatt
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009.
9 lbs / 21 inches
Born at 2:03pm PST at Providence Hospital in Portland Oregon
Lee was able to deliver Max naturally with the help of our wonderful midwife, Karen Parker Lynn. Labor lasted all of 10 hours, with only 1.5 hours in the hospital before the little guy arrived.
Jeremy was able to "catch" Max as he arrived and place him on Lee's chest where the three rested comfortably for 1-2 hours, just happily getting to know each other. max was as alert as he has ever been during those first 2 hours, staring at his Mom the whole time.
